The name “Vicolo della Neve” recalls an ancient practice: storing snow in the basement of shops to use it in the summer months. The trattoria, located in this alley, has been a crossroads of cultures for years, where the poet Alfonso Gatto, the painter Clemente Tafuri and other artists found inspiration among food, poetry and conviviality.

Restoring life to a place so strongly rooted in the collective memory of Salerno required a balance between respect for what it represented and what it will have to represent in the future for the new generations. The challenge was to reinterpret the visual identity of Vicolo della Neve, preserving its authenticity and historical values, and at the same time making it readable for a new generation of patrons.

We embarked on a journey through time, recovering narrative and iconographic elements from local stories, historical archives and the testimonies of the inhabitants. The visual identity has developed around the symbol of the crown, reinterpreted to evoke multiple meanings: a tribute to the nobility of tradition, a celebration of conviviality and a poetic reference to snow and its infinite possibilities of interpretation.

Vicolo della Neve is the “Trattoria dell’Indistinto”, a place where people from all walks of life meet, creating a unique harmony. Our narrative has sought to capture this inclusive spirit, reflecting the idea of a crossroads of stories, cultures and flavours.

With the Vicolo della Neve project, we have revived a milestone in Salerno’s history, making it once again a protagonist of the city’s cultural and gastronomic scene. A place where the past is intertwined with the present, and where every detail tells a story.
